Winter League Week 1 – 2025 – 2026
So here we are again, the start of another Winter league, with every pairing hoping they can get their hands on the Magnificent ‘David Boyle Memorial’ Trophy (Pictured on the main Feature) at the Presentation in March, and be crowned as Champions as Ian Holt and Ian Morris (Vice Captain) where last WL.
I welcome all players Old and New to the league, those in new pairings after sacking their partners from last year, some with notification and some without, but leave that there for now. For those new to the league, then help with information will be all around you, be that Craig in the shop, your playing partners on the day, and then Myself / Bomber – never be afraid to ask any questions, as there will never be a stupid question – if you don’t know, you don’t know, and there are still a pool of players who still ask, mainly because they are forgetful, and have been in the league years.
So we began with both to score on every hole and the First pairing to lose the 2 shots + this season were Gareth Arnison (Sid) and Tony ‘Curtly’ Ambrose (Subbing for Woody) with their 71 points, which is low for this format, but still good enough to take the 15 points and the Cash. 1 Point Further behind came Phil Neary and Ricky Davies (Subbing for Border Patrol), which is a pairing from yesteryear – well done both pairs.
Our Nearest the Pin winner was another Sub, Mark Holland as he struck his 3 Wood to 2ft 4″, which is a great marker to be thrown down for the rest of the league and will be tough to beat thats for sure. Well done Mark, noticed you never converted that into a 2 Though!! Your place is guaranteed in the Shoot out Final on the last day of the WL (9th March I think)
2’s on the day – Remember these are on selected PAR 3’s only as well as all PAR 4’s and 5’s – this week it was at 1 and 10, and we had 5 recorded with each pair getting £11.20 between them.
I will do the Knockouts and get them posted asap, and by the time you have read this they may have been done. Please contact your opponents and do not leave until the last week to play this – if unsure of anything knockout related, then ask.
Subs – quite a profitable week for subs this week as 2 appear in the first 2 places and 1 takes the NP money, for the record on subs I have reduced the number of weeks to play your first 3 to 7 weeks from 10, just trying to help out here as 10 weeks takes in most of December and I know some do go away over that period, so hopefully that will help.
Nest Weeks format will be Canadian Greensomes and the 2’s Hole will be 10 and 14
Please note all documents – League Table – Winnings – Subs List – Handicaps – Knockouts ect, are all attached
I wont make any apologies for the Featured Image – I was just extending the pleasure of the Win on to another day or so.
Happy Golfing to you all
