Winter League Week 2 – 2025 – 2026
Good day to you all
Well week 2 started like it was going to be a proper Lovely Autumnal Day, and turned into a Miserable, Cold and damp depressing day, even more so for the Bertie Magoo Brigade – Quite enjoyable again from a Red perspective these last couple of weeks, lets hope the joy continues……………..But it begs the Question do you want Arsenal winning the league, or can Bournemouth do a Leicester? anyway enough of taking advantage of writing these reports!!
Yesterday was a chance to get a differing format in before we get into knockouts, and the format can be a difficult one, feel a bit strange to get your mind around it (Like me Eh John?), when you both drive, then have to play your partners out of the trees after splitting the fairway in 3 half’s with your own drive, and then alternating, add the weather in there, it became a tough day. Our Winners on the Day where Gaz Hall and Steve Kelsall with their 73 Gross which netted them a return of 64, to take the 15 points and £48 each, however they only won on a back 9 playoff (Please note Play offs for all medal events are done slightly differently as your Handicap is halved for a Back 9 playoff, and then subtracted from your Gross Score – this is highlighted on the Results sheet for the record) beating Si Daniels and Markham Bullard, who shot 68 Gross for an equaling 64 Net – well done both pairs.
Thanks to those that got their Knockouts in yesterday and thanks to those that have arranged theirs for next week – If you have not contacted your opponents can you please do so, so you can arrange your Best Card / Matchplay games for the 2nd / 9th or 16th – the earlier the better, and the next 3 weeks allows you play Matchplay.
Yesterday me and Flynny played with young Lewis and Arran, John had asked me to Sub for Wayne (Judith away again), so I told him after to make sure the next time he asks me to sub, i would rather play against those that can drive it an equal distance, not struggle to get past their drives in 2 shots………………….Ridiculous length off the Tee, thankfully no money was mentioned on the first tee – wise old heads you see. Thanks for the game young Men, and it wont be long before you pair are winning a week or 2.
Just in case you are wondering why the main picture is off the Pro Shop Clock, well apparently somebody was asked to change the time yesterday morning, and did not replace it properly and the weather we had during the night has dislodged and brought it crashing to the ground…………………I wont tell you who is responsible, but his partner is Steve Waddup!!
Next weeks format will be 4BBB Medal – a nice easy one for you – Have a great week whatever you do or wherever you are
